The Florida Society recognizes students, educators, veterans and public servants, and confers the National Society’s medals on members whose service deserves it. The student contests themselves live under Activities — this page is about the awards and recognition programs.

Youth Award Programs

The society funds cash awards and scholarships for students at every grade level, from a poster competition for third graders to essay and oration prizes of $1,000 for high school students. Awards are made at chapter, state and national level, and a chapter winner goes forward to compete for the state award.

Eight contests carry an award. The deadlines, amounts and eligibility are set out on one page.

Educator Recognition

The American History Teacher Award recognizes excellence in teaching the Revolutionary era, 1750 to 1800.

Public Service & Veteran Recognition

Major Society Awards

The major awards include the Patriot Medal, the Liberty Medal and the Minuteman Award, the most distinguished recognition the National Society confers.

Chapter Recognition

The Americanism and Chapter Challenge recognizes chapters for their own programs and outreach, with four awards made annually by chapter size.
