The Board of Management (BOM) manages the affairs of the Florida Society in such manner as the By-Laws of the corporation shall provide. It meets twice each year, once in the fall (usually October) and once in conjunction with its Annual Meeting in the spring (usually in May), where the election of officers is held and any proposed by-laws changes are addressed.
Meetings are typically held on a Friday and Saturday, with the BOM and Annual meetings held on Saturday afternoon. In the fall, there is a banquet on Saturday night. In the spring, there is the annual awards banquet on Friday night, a youth awards luncheon on Saturday, and the installation banquet on Saturday night. Other times during the two days are filled with workshops and committee meetings.

Board Membership and Voting
All members in good standing of the Florida Society may vote at the Annual Meeting, but only members of the Board of Management may vote at BOM meetings. Membership of the Board includes only members in good standing of the FLSSAR who fall into at least one of the following categories:
- Lifetime members of the Board, by virtue of being a Past President of the FLSSAR, a recipient of the Patriot Medal, or an incumbent or past elected officer of the NSSAR.
- Members of the Board by virtue of being, and while being, an elected officer of the FLSSAR, an appointed incumbent FLSSAR committee chairman, the incumbent National Trustee from Florida, an incumbent Chapter President, or the most recent Past President of a chapter (the person who preceded an incumbent Chapter President in office). If a chapter has no recent Past President, it shall name another of its members to serve on the Board.
- Members appointed by chapters having more than forty members, on the basis of one additional Board member for each forty chapter members, or fraction thereof, beyond the first forty. The term of such additional members is coterminous with that of the Chapter President in office at the time of their appointment.
Attending and Proxies
A member of the Board who is unable to attend a meeting may name, in writing, another member of the FLSSAR to attend and act in their stead; provided, however, that no person may have more than one vote. Members of the FLSSAR who are not members of the Board may attend and participate in debate but may not vote. Visiting dignitaries, especially those from other State Societies or the National Society, may attend and may be invited to address the meeting, but may not participate in debate or vote.
- Chapters must report members in category (c) to the State Secretary no later than one week prior to the meeting.
- Members who wish to name a proxy must report that to the State Secretary no later than one week prior to the meeting.
