The Sons of the American Revolution's engraved Eagle Scout Certificate is an official recognition awarded by the society to honor Boy Scouts achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. It celebrates their accomplishment alongside the society's mission. Please contact your local chapter to request a certificate without cost for your Court of Honor.

What is the Arthur M. & Berdena King Eagle Scout Contest?

The Florida Society's Eagle Scout Contest recognizes exceptional Eagle Scouts whose achievements exemplify leadership, patriotism, citizenship, and service to community and country. Established to honor the highest ideals of Scouting, the award highlights young men and women who demonstrate outstanding character and a deep appreciation for the principles on which the United States was founded.

Cash prizes are awarded at the local, state, and national levels.

Who can participate?

Eagle Scouts may apply for the contest once each year, provided he has not previously placed First at the National level, and:

  • The Scout is currently registered in an active Scouting unit.
  • The Scout will not attain their 19th birthday at any time during the calendar year of application.*

* The calendar year for the contest runs from January 1st to December 31st.

What are the requirements?

All participants must complete the three-parts of the application process. The contest application form, ancestor chart, and a sample essay are available on our national website.

Application Requirements:

  1. SAR Eagle Scout Contest Application Form
  2. Four-Generation Ancestor Chart
  3. A 500-word patriotic-themed essay

Additional Requirements

  • All entries must feature original content.
  • Plagiarized or AI-generated works are not permitted.
How do I enter?

The contest takes place across three levels, beginning with your local chapter. Local chapter winners advance to the state-level competition, and each state winner then moves on to the SAR National Competition to compete for national awards.

All entries must be submitted through a local chapter to begin the competition process.

  • Contact your local chapter for specific submission dates and requirements. (Deadlines vary by chapter.)
  • Complete contest rules and the official application forms are available at sar.org.
What can I win?

Top entries earn cash prizes at the local, state, and national levels! Each local chapter sets its own prize amounts, and chapter winners advance to the state competition.

State-Level Prizes:

  • 1st Place: $1,000 cash
  • 2nd Place: $500 cash
  • 3rd Place: $250 cash

The state winner will advance to the national competition, where prize amounts are determined and awarded by the National Society to the top fifteen winners.

The First Place Winner of the national competition will be asked to appear at the SAR Annual Congress, held in June or July, to be recognized and receive the award. Travel and lodging allowances will be provided.
