THe SAR's Americanism-Chapter Challenge Program recognizes the chapters that demonstrates the strongest outreach to promote an understanding of fundamental American traditions in their local communities at the state and national levels. Chapters earn points through activities that appear on the Americanism Award Combined Score Sheet. Chapters are grouped by size to compete for four annual awards by number of members: 1 to 40, 41 to 90, 91 to 150, and 151 or more, as of January 1st of the current year.
The newly instituted SAR Mission Activities Record Tracker File (SMART) supports the Americanism-Chapter Challenge Program and serves as an all-inclusive activity reporting system that enables Chapters to leverage internal member expertise to develop and conduct activities and events that support SAR strategic objectives. Goals of the program are to increase Chapter participation in key contests; support the decision-making process of the National Society; and ensure all Chapters receive credit for all aspects of their activities.
The SMART File also serves as a one-stop reporting system. For example, the SMART File includes the former Stark Report along with CAR and DAR activities reducing the number of separate Chapter activity reports.

To gain a better understanding of the SMART File, it is recommended that Chapter Presidents and their designated Americanism-Chapter Challenge representative complete SAR University Courses 215 and 216. Follow this link for more information.
Florida's Americanism-Chapter Challenge Program is designed to recognize Chapters for activities and events that meet the goals of the effort. The top three chapters in each category are awarded at Florida's Annual Meeting. The calendar year is used for the contest period, January 1st to December 31st.
Florida's Americanism-Chapter Challenge Committee collaborates with the FLSSAR Secretary to ensure the timely submission of both Chapter and State reports to the National Society for the national contest.
