Our chapters extend the society's reach into local communities to foster engagement and provide local activities. They allow the society to have a presence across Florida with the many members of our state, and to build a connection with our organization. Our chapters work together to share expertise, best practices, and resources to contribute to the development of the overall effectiveness of our organization.
Florida's chapters honor the memory of those who fought in the American Revolution, and promote patriotism, historical preservation, and education related to the founding of the United States. We realize this through various activities, including commemorating historical events, supporting educational programs, and fostering fellowship among members.
Chapters also deliver youth and community award programs, such as scholarships and recognitions for students. They support veterans and public servants in ceremonies and memorials, and participate in uniformed color guards for public events. Genealogical research, grave markings for patriots, and support for related groups like the Daughters and Children of the American Revolution are common.
Objectives:
- Honor our Formation: Chapters recognize and honor the sacrifices made by individuals who contributed to the American Revolution, whether through military service, civil service, or other forms of support.
- Recognize Values: Chapters actively promote patriotism by celebrating patriotic holidays, participating in flag ceremonies, and engaging in community service initiatives.
- Preserve History: Chapters work to preserve historical sites, documents, and artifacts related to the Revolutionary War era. They may also support genealogical research to help individuals connect with their patriot ancestors.
- Educational Outreach: Our chapters sponsor educational programs for youth, such as essay contests, oration contests, and presentations on historical topics. They aim to educate the public about the principles of the American Revolution and the U.S. Constitution.
- Fellowship and Community: Chapters provide opportunities for members to connect with others who share a common interest in American history and heritage, fostering camaraderie and community.
Directory
There are over 30 chapters of the Florida Society through the state from its northern-most points to the Florida keys. Through these, the Florida Society has provided tens of thousands of people opportunities to give back to their community since 1897. If you are interested in what is happening in any one of them, use the directory below to write the local chairperson. Ask to be put on the chapter's email list or to attend a meeting to learn more.
